In celebration of World Environment Day

First Citizens Bank Limited

First Citizens Bank was created in 1993 out of three institutions, the Trinidad Co-operative Bank, Worker's Bank and National Commercial Bank.

Over the course of fifteen years, First Citizens has evolved into one of the region’s leading and most dynamic providers of financial products and services. First Citizens Bank enjoys the highest international ratings for an indigenous bank from the world’s leading rating agencies, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s.

It has, on three occasions (2001, 2003 and 2006), won the Tyrone Samlalsingh Pinnacle award for excellence in innovation, communications technology and e-commerce. The Bank has also been rated “First in Soundness” in Trinidad & Tobago (2003) and “Bank of The Year 2005” by The Banker Magazine.

It remains the only local bank to float two US$100 Million bonds (February 2004 & January 2005) as well as being admitted to the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) B-Loan Programme. The Bank, in addition to being the first commercial bank to launch a Trustee Services Company, also has the highest accreditation from the International Institute of Internal Auditors.

In late 2005, First Citizens unveiled its new symbol, representative of the coming together of its customers’ needs and the bank’s strengths, moving upwards towards success.
